Caves u3a

The group meets on the third Monday of the month at 2 p.m. in South Cave.

Each month we offer up a theme - it might be simply one word, e.g. Autumn, or it might set a scene such as "meeting a stranger". Some members need just a suggestion to get their imagination into gear. They then spend the following month either writing a short story on that theme or perhaps writing a poem. Others might have their own agenda and ignore the subject entirely and simply continue writing whatever they want. At the following meeting each have a chance of reading out their piece and opening it up for constructive criticism and/or suggestion. Currently we are more interested in the imaginative aspects than grammatical correctness although this may change over time. We include most kinds of writing e.g short or book length stories (fictional or non-fictional) poetry, plays, scripts, magazine pieces or newspaper column items. The group leader is ably supported by Lesley.
